The gear we actually use on location shoots around the world

We get asked about our gear on every shoot. Here is the exact setup we pack for travel content projects in 2025.

Our camera system is built around the Sony A7S III for video and the Sony A7R V for stills. Both share the same lens mount, which keeps our bag light. For lenses, we carry a 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II for versatility, a 16-35mm f/2.8 GM for wide establishing shots, and a 50mm f/1.2 for detail work and portraits.

Stabilization matters more than resolution. We use the DJI RS4 Pro gimbal for every walk-and-talk, tracking shot, and reveal. For aerial footage, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro handles 90% of our drone needs.

Audio is often overlooked by travel creators. We carry a Rode Wireless GO II kit for interviews and voice-over on location. Clean audio separates professional content from amateur work.

For lighting, we keep it minimal. Two Aputure MC Pro panels fit in a jacket pocket and handle most interior hotel shoots. Natural light does the rest.

The best gear is the gear you actually bring. Keep your kit small enough to carry through airports, rugged enough for remote locations, and reliable enough to never miss a shot.
